These days virtually all of us–including immature, misguided children–have at our disposal a camera and the ability to post pictures and videos online instantly for the world to see. And it can truly be a recipe for disaster.
Amber Cole has been trending on the Internet since Sunday night, October 16. Who is Amber Cole and why is she a worldwide trending topic on Twitter? We really shouldn’t have a clue, but the fact that millions of people now know all about what could be her most embarrassing moment speaks to the power of the web. And how quickly and easily children can be exploited on it.
Amber is a 14-year-old student who was videotaped engaging in an intimate act with a male classmate after school. Another classmate videotaped the encounter and posted it online. It immediately went viral and caused a firestorm on the web. Some were outraged the video even existed, others were disgusted by young Amber’s behavior, still others were horrified by what the young boys had apparently perpetrated.
While the web’s self-appointed pundits were judging the various players in this sad affair, Amber Cole’s name was becoming more infamous with every passing minute and every comment posted online.

There is a new video that's floating around on Web sites, Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter called the Amber Cole Video.


The subject "Leave Amber Cole Alone" in currently trending worldwide on Twitter. The YouTube video "Leave Amber Cole Alone," posted on Oct. 17, shows a young girl defending Amber Cole, who was apparently caught performing oral sex in a public place.



Attempts to try and find out more information about the Amber Cole video lead back to several unrelated videos with links to bizarre blogs.

One Web site, straightfromthea.com, shows graphic images of a young girl that they claim is 14-year-old Amber Cole with blurred-out screenshots from the supposed video. *** This video below contains some brief graphic language.

So I check into Twitter this morning and the phrase 'Leave Amber Cole Alone' is trending. Should we really leave Amber Cole alone?

Amber Cole incident needs attention ‎

Amber Cole’s name has become a popular one for all the wrong reasons. A videotape of the 14-year-old girl performing fellatio on a classmate outside of their high school was posted on the Internet, unfortunately leaving her open to much ridicule and judgment.
While she was a victim of cyber bullying following the video’s distribution—which is illegal, by the way, considering she’s a minor—there were many who defended Amber.
One particular teen posted a teary-eyed plea, a video that has racked up more than a million views on YouTube.
“Y’all over here talking ‘bout this girl like she did a crime or something. Y’all need to stop. Leave Amber Cole alone,” she cries. “Y’all over here making fun of a girl because she likes to do a little head work in places. There’s nothing wrong with that… I don’t understand.”
While compassion for Amber is appreciated, because no one wants to see her future ruined for her teenage error in judgment, the fact that some young girls her age don’t seem to find her behavior taboo or inappropriate is troubling.
With the rate of STDs rising, the thought of young sisters on their knees (in front of bystanders, no less) performing oral sex, is very wrong, despite what Amber’s defenders may feel.
Why would anyone deem this acceptable behavior?
While no one wants to further disparage Amber’s name, it’s worth mentioning if only to make clear that this is not what we want for our daughters.
There’s nothing wrong with sex at the appropriate age, time, place and person with whom there is hopefully shared affection, and that’s what we want for our girls.

Amber Cole Video Aftermath Shows the 14-Year-Old is “Desperate” for Attention

Amber Cole, the 14-year-old who was infamously caught performing oral sex on a male friend (purported to be her ex boyfriend who she was trying to “win back”), is said to be really taking advantage of her new-found celebrity.
Unconfirmed reports continue to mention that Cole has been talking about her “situation” all week on  and Facebook, showing that she is milking this thing for all it’s worth.
In the days following the eruption of the scandal, Amber immediately signed up on Twitter and begged celebrities to follow her. She even showed her own face and let the whole world know exactly what she looked like.
But is she simply a young woman who is “desperate” for attention … and not in a bad way?
  
Dr. Phoyenx Austin, a physician, writer and media personality said this about Amber’s

 

“[Amber's] actions clearly display that she is so desperate for ANY form of male validation and love that she would degrade herself to this degree. As for the boy, or boys, who are no more than parasites, I sincerely hope that they are dealt with by karma’s hand — and maybe even a male relative that decides to step up to the plate. This is not boys being boys. Their actions were cruel and sick. And you can tell everything about an individual’s soul based on how they treat someone they don’t have to treat well.”

If Amber has low self esteem, then she definitely needs help.
And the fact that this story is so huge, and not one organization for women or troubled teens have stepped up to give this girl the help that she needs, and deserves, is troubling.
So is she being ignored? We can’t help but think about the amount of energy and effort that would be put into helping Amber out if she were blond-haired and blue-eyed.
Why hasn’t anyone stepped up to the plate and at least offer the young girl some form of counseling?
Instead of trying to figure out “why” Amber did what she did, why aren’t we trying to figure out “why” no one has offered to help her in the aftermath?
Because clearly, if that really is her on Twitter, she is lost and desperately needs to be found.
Today, Amber allegedly said on Twitter that she “loves” the boy in the video.
“So what if [first boy] exposed me,” she tweeted. “It doesn’t change my feeling towards him. I love him with everything and will always be here for him.”
She continued, “I miss him … I love you both … you both will forever be in my heart. I just want these 2 boys in my life and I’m good.”
If Amber is really saying things like that on Twitter, then hopefully she is joking. And if not, we can only hope that she will be able to get some help, because if she truly feels like that, then that is scary.

In this digital age, way too often social media is victimizing our young people. Humiliation is just an enter key and mouse click away.
Over the last week, a video of 14-year-old Amber Cole performing oral sex on her ex-boyfriend went viral. The event took place outside of their high school while two other boys watched nearby and recorded it.
It wasn’t long before websites got a hold of the recording and posted it for their subscribers to view.
Immediately social networking websites such as Twitter and Facebook filled up with controversial comments and opinions on the scandal. The hash tag topic that trended read “Leave Amber Cole Alone.” Derogatory words were thrown Amber’s way, some of them even crossing the line to bullying.
Yes, Amber Cole performed the act, but should she be ridiculed this way? The answer is no. There are many steps and tools that could’ve prevented this. Not excuses but precautions, she is 14 years old and was obviously mislead.
Sources say Amber consented to perform this act on school grounds in hopes to win back her ex-boyfriend.
On and off camera scenarios like this are wrong. At such a young age, although she does know right from wrong, our communities can be to blame.
Before Amber is any of the names she has been called, she is someone’s daughter first.
Where are the men in this child’s life? Judging off her desperation to win back an old boyfriend that she shouldn’t have had in the first place, Amber is completely vulnerable.
Perhaps there is a male void in her life which lead to her seeking validation from boys. This easily leads back to a popular community slogan, “Protect Our Children.”
Based off the actions of the two boys that recorded the act, this displayed that they might have not been brought up to honor and respect women.

 

We live in an age where bullying has ended in suicide and longtime internal scaring. Although this has not been verified by a credible source, there is talk that Amber is on a suicide watch.

The backlash for Amber became so severe that she became a trending topic on Twitter, with people urging people to "Leave Amber Cole Alone" as the derogatory comments against Amber Cole intensified.
The saga increased as rumours spread that Amber had killed herself because the bullying and insults aimed towards her became too much, which led many people to ask whether the whole situation had got way out of her hand.
Us rapper Nicki Minaj, even got involved by this point, tweeting to her six and a half million followers:  "GOD please watch over #AmberCole I would hate for #CyberBullying to cause her to take he own life. Retweet".

 
Cole became a controversial internet celebrity overnight when a video of her performing oral sex on her apparent ex-boyfriend was released and went viral.
